ShotQ (shot quality) is an innovation of Impact Evaluator. ShotQ measures the shot quality of a team’s offensive and defensive shots throughout the season. The key is ShotQ does not record if the shot went in or was missed; it is all about measuring the possession and the value of the shot has it leaves the shooter’s hands. ShotQ accounts for defender distance, if it was off the bounce or catch and shoot, the shot location, the passes throughout the possession, shot clock, and many other factors.
